From June 23 through June 28, participants completed 50 hours of intensive content training in science, technology, and mathematics, with some incorporation of engineering in several science activities. Columbia College in Sonora hosted the bulk of the training sessions. A two-day field experience included stops within and adjacent to the Rim Fire area, and Columns of the Giants and Pinecrest Lake on Highway 108.
On September 20 the participants traveled to Stockton's DaVinci Center to focus on engineering activities for eight hours.
