The Rim Fire is is the third largest wildfire in California history and scorched 257,314 acres between August 17 and October 24, 2013.  Participants collected soil and air temperatures, determined relative humidity values, and measured tree height and canopy cover at a location within the perimeter of the Rim Fire.
In the lab the participants were challenged with determining which of seven samples contained fresh water using simple testing procedures.  Viscosity, density, odor, and surface tension were some of the parameters that they tested.  The lab activity was based on "Is There Water on Zork?" from Project WET.
